it's missing SOMETHING, but what, im not sure

You truly have mastered the rhodes. Fuckin great funk. Reminds me of the theme from Being There (great Pete Sellers movie with an even BETTER soundtrack). Nice job; woulda been nice to get even a bit more instrumentation in, besides the rhodes and guitar; like maybe throw in a prominent flute or clarinet... maybe a sax? i dunno... even so it was great, but i felt it was missing some kinda punch towards the end.

BinaryGuy responds:

the whole point of the song was to make a "perfect" transition from totally mellow to totally upbeat. I think i accomplished that, but now you got me thinking, "what if i made it go from even MORE mellow to even MORE upbeat"
That'd be awesome, like this review was!
Thanks for the review!

Who`d you make enemies with?

This is a great piece of work man, you deserve to be over 4 with this one, frankly. The only thing I felt might need work is that transition at 1:34. It's way too abrupt and it doesn't completely change the tempor or anything. But other than the 3 seconds of confusion that created, the track's masterful. Great job on the EQ and all too.

I guess ppl don't like giving high scores to music that isn't fast and loud nowadays.

DJLoneWolf responds:

i guess i just attract trolls that love to give me a 0 for anything i submit. Anyways, thanks for the review.

just not a song worth remixing

I didn't find this all that interesting as a remix; it's frankly the same song and same genre...( maybe even a little more hands-up than the original) but with a chorus synth instead of a singer... Also, very typical kick/bass offset rhythm. I can tell you know what you're doing with whatever software you're using, but GOD, WHY DO THIS WITH IT?

ShadowEmmi responds:

I know what you are thinking, but I just had to upload something xD
But it isn't that muche of a change, I also "miss" a singer or vocals..

Nice touch

Great track all-round, but for a desert-wind style track, I find it gets a bit too busy at the end, especially with the hard strings and minor transitions. Still, very awe- inspiring and it deserves a tops of the week. at LEAST. Nice job on the EQ, great choice and variety of synths (i especially liked that digeridoo type synth you had running as a pad), and great buildup. BTW, I love that drum hit you used at 1:34, it's one of my fav's in FL studio. Keep submitting 'em, cuz i wanna hear 'em!

Thanks for the review!

There will soon be more coming up and if you'd like to see their names check out my news post.

It's pretty good...

I don't know what kind of series you intended for this to introduce, but it feels more like an electric lullaby to me than anything... a really repetitive lullaby. But how much variety can one really pack into just over a minute...

lazyboyclark responds:

ah well. thanks for the seven hehe

WHOA do you need to turn that synth down.

OMG you need to learn to use EQ settings better! i thought you were going to pop my eardrums with that synth at the beginning. Other than that REALLY abrupt beginning i thorroughly enjoyed the rest of the track after i turned my volume way down... If you had taken more time to really master it properly and rein in that crazy synth, it'd be a 9/10.

Well i have very awful hearing so thats probly why that hurts urs and not mine but thanx anywayz

This was like listening to Yoga for Windows!

Interesting and constantly changing, but I found it really hard to follow the melody; it didn't really seem to have a key or a consistent flow with the beat all the time. I'm sure you intended for it, but I guess it was a bit over-experimental for my taste. I did like the flow from 8 bit computer-ish synths into something a bit more... oriental.

Two of the more original minuts I've spent listening to any track on this site. nice job!

LastRushup responds:

Thanks for the review, this will definitely help me improve!

I feel guilty...

I can hear from the EQ work (like the sweep at the beginning) and the complexity of the two main themes you used that you did put a lot of work into this, but I still found that there was a bit too much fuzz on the synths you picked, and it made the song sound kinda clicky for trance music... Otherwise, although it does change at points, it only has 2 themes in 5 minutes, and the 3rd part is just playing one theme over the other. That's not a whole lot of variety for 5 minutes of air time...

So, sorry I couldn't give this one a bigger and more flattering review; it's a pretty decent track, so no hard feelings I hope.

e991e responds:

none taken.
This is my first song thats longer than 4 minutes (and decent). i hope to master the trance genre (lol) and create a few songs that are over 5 minutes and more entertaining.
Thanks for the review!

eenh...

The soundbyte of the song going pop was sort of appropriate; the kick you used is REALLY clicky, and the song on the whole is pretty repetitive for only 2:00 long. Good instrumentation for dance though, but it definitely needs a bit more variety and some EQ adjustments...

tytee responds:

Thanks for the review. Yeah, I'm kinda new to this whole thing, so I've got to get some practice in. Like it says, this is just the demo... don't really know if it'll go anywhere.

Great song, but it's all sweeps!

I never thought I'd hear a track that had too many sweeps, but you managed to put more than 10 into 1:20 of music. That's got to be a record. Cool clip, but I just thought it might have been better with a few synths that weren't sweeping.

Shroomguy responds:

BUT SWEEPING IS MY FAVORITE CHORE...

Yeah I was really experimenting with sweeps in this one, but I thought it was okay.

Though you do make a valid point. Thanks for reviewing!
