Screams Nintendo.

I could picture this in the next Mario Bros. game that comes out for Nintendo. I like Mario Bros. but, but not for the music... sry bro. A bit repetitive and there's waaaay too much overly synth-ish brass going on. The piano and general composing was decent, but the arrangement you decided on didn't really work for me.

Strangely Eerie

Something about the combination of the lead synth and that pad you picked is just off-putting. It's almost uncomfortable to listen to; definitely gets across the whole "beware" feeling. So, if you were trying to freak people out with your music, mission accomplished...

Pezmobile responds:

It was supposed to be a kinda freaky, but not so much that you don't like it.
Well, Thanks for the review!

Nice job, but could use more variety in the piano

Funny, while I was listening to it I kept thinkin of this track I uploaded a long while ago (Under Control); it's got similar piano, but it's more hip hop than march. Anyways, I thought your track had a great sound, good selection of instruments, but it's also really repetitive on the piano riff (JUST LIKE MY OLD TRACK!). That arpeggio you have running the whole time gets old after about 2 minutes. My suggestion is to come up with a different way of padding the midsection of the track or maybe shortening it to about 2:30 - 3:00, if you feel like I do about it.

Still, I don't mean to be harsh here, it's well done, and it's well mastered. Nice Job. Also, it's not Hands-Up trance (which is starting to annoy me cuz there's just SO FREAKIN MUCH OF IT around here).

4/5

SFaPiL2 responds:

I did notice the repetitiveness and tried to mask it by alternating a similar melody and other piano riffs, but I guess it didn't work. Hmm... I'll try to come up with something new another day.

Thanks alot for the suggestions ^_^.

More Hands-Up...

Same kick-punch beat and 2-4 bass the whole way through... oh, and the melody is really repetitive. I gave this a 7 because it at least had the one interesting 10 second piano segment. Otherwise, pretty generic.

I mean, clearly there was some effort here, but in terms of just how great the end product turned out, think Hampster Dance: it's popular... not brilliant.

groovy house

Everything about this screams ambient house, so WHY IS THE KICK SOOOO LOUD? Other than that one gripe, the whole thing is really well executed. nice job with the voice sampling btw.

mjattie responds:

hmmm I'm glad you like it but I don't think the kick is too loud, and I have quite a big supwoofer

thanks for reaction though

it's missing SOMETHING, but what, im not sure

You truly have mastered the rhodes. Fuckin great funk. Reminds me of the theme from Being There (great Pete Sellers movie with an even BETTER soundtrack). Nice job; woulda been nice to get even a bit more instrumentation in, besides the rhodes and guitar; like maybe throw in a prominent flute or clarinet... maybe a sax? i dunno... even so it was great, but i felt it was missing some kinda punch towards the end.

BinaryGuy responds:

the whole point of the song was to make a "perfect" transition from totally mellow to totally upbeat. I think i accomplished that, but now you got me thinking, "what if i made it go from even MORE mellow to even MORE upbeat"
That'd be awesome, like this review was!
Thanks for the review!

HANDS UP MORE!

Tired of seeing the same hands-up style all over the tops list? It's kinda depressing, even if this track isnt all that bad.
4/5

Meh...

Meh, not a bad sample, but to make tops all time? that's a bit much for some standard hands-up bass and kick-punch beat... doesn't really have any remarkable qualities that make me want to rate it super highly.

B )

be sure to put on your coolest pair of shades before listening!

With a better intro, it coulda been a 10

Interesting track. Very odd intro, and i think you might have wanted to use a less compressed piano synth (it doesn't sound full enough at the beginning). Beyond the intro I found the rest of the track was pretty well put together and the piano was well varied and backed up by either good LH piano chords or a good synth.

Job well done! 4/5
