???

So content-wise this was sketchy... it made no sense whatsoever. The animation was kinda shaky, except for the "super kick", and even then... no background and very akward SFX...

THE MANWHORE STRIKES AGAIN!

I would have liked a less predictable ending, but I guess it wouldn't work very well that way as a looped animation. That was manwhorrible, in a good way!

Sexual-Lobster responds:

i seriously doubt you predicted the ending.

Does this really need a flash animation?

Not that it was badly animated or anything; it's actually quite well produced. I just don't see enough of a plot in the parable to warrant making a flash of it.

I totally understand the parable; all I'm saying is that a man crosses a river in a raft... that's all... I got that from the title.

RiverJordan responds:

If that's all you got, you're missing the message, the meaning, behind the parable.

Amazing job... again!

I've never bothered reviewing your flashes before because they're just completely spot-on every time. Your animation's flawless and you always seem to have great voice acting in your submissions. I tip my hat to you, sir, on yet another impeccable flash creation.

If there is anybody out there who doesn't know Happy Harry: for shame.

Wow, this got on the tops list?

Sorry, but putting up some random images while a guy belts out "salope" and "pute" for two minutes just doesn't qualify as good work with flash. You get 1 star for managing to set the animation in time with the music and one star for making it French. Other than that, I don't think there's a single redeeming quality to this.

the-meedows responds:

Well I beg to differ, if I may...

First of all, I don't get how those images are random since they perfectly illustrate the lyrics of the songs.
So, yeah, those lyrics are pretty much simple, stupid and it's overall a great use of bad taste but that's what my animation is all about so I'm not off-topic.
You see, you're talking to the writer/drawer/animator/director of this piece of flash, you can't blame me for the lyrics - it's like saying "I don't like punk so your flash is crap".
The exercise was to put images on this song and for what it is, I think it's a success :
it's varied, pretty fluid and goes with the song.

What you may not know is that I'm no animator or drawer, didn't take any class or had any experience in animation.
Just my eyes to look, my brain to analyse and mimic and my elbow for the grease.

Cause it was really a lot of work, you know.
Think of 8 ways of illustrate "You're mom is a whore" is not as easy as you may think.
Rotoscoping the lips on the Intro Guy and the hand of the medium was obviously some work and organisation, as for the stop motion in scene 6.
The letters in scene 5 are hand-design, not a random effect in some soft.
The scene in the kitchen for the first chorus was really really harsh, especially to sync the sound to the action.
Translating the lyrics in Katakana and sync it karaoke style was also a lot of work.
Finally, the parody of the White Stripes music video was a complete nightmare and took me days, it's really a lot more work than results !

And you said it yourself, I've put a lotta efforts in timing the all thing.

I'm almost done.
Also, I would have told you that I didn't deserve the "Making it French Star" since I'm french but seeing that the score you gave me is 1 star anyway, it's possible you've already find that out.

Finally, I don't know what Top List is, I don't see how this animation could ever be in it.
I think Newgrounds just told you a white lie.
You know, like those related stuff on the left side that have nothing to do with what we're talking about.

Voilà .

No agressive tone intended, it's just what I think, if you're interested.

Awesome job!

Things that were great:

(1) The idea

(2) The plot

(3) The characters

(4) The the animation

(5) The '90s (nothing to do with this flash, but they WERE great)

Awesome!

The animation & the voice acting were both sick! BTW, when is the premier? I want to see the full movie!

Thoughtful, and well animated!

Great soundtrack & sound effects that you used. I loved the playfulness & originality of many of the story lines. Even when some of them seemed less meaningful to me, they were still really interesting to watch.

There is one minor detail in the animation that should be cleaned up. At the end, when the lunar cycle runs once through, a small horizontal beige line appears while the animation is progressing. It persists into the final fade-to-black, and it looks like a row of burnt pixels or something (which is why I noticed it).

You clearly put a ton of work into producing this, and I really hope you're satisfied with it, because I think it's a great bit of animation you've put together here. Kudos!

The music was awesome!

I thought the cover of Take Me Out was better than the original. Also, great job setting the animation to the beat.

I have to say, though, that I thought the animation was a bit sloppy at times. As well, the story line was pretty ambiguous.

I think with a bit more polish to the animation, this would have been a full-blown 10.

Look up the word spurious.

The earth is very old and many MANY things have been carved into many MANY cave walls. While I won't dispute the facts that you have stated in your expose, I would like to leave you a cautionary note about spuriously relating these facts to one another in order to draw conclusions.

For example (and this is also true) there is a thermometer buoy in the Pacific ocean whose temperature fluctuations predict Microsoft Corporation share prices for the past 10 years. This occurred purely because there are many buoys (thousands of them) in many oceans and many stocks that one could choose from to track performance (at least 120 years). In fact, if we picked a different set of 10 years, we could probably find a different buoy to make a match with a different stock. The relationship exists, but it is meaningless.

Similarly, the earth is about 4.5 BILLION years old. If the markings on the wall in one cave happen to mirror the position of a star someplace in the universe and point out the white dwarf orbiting it, it's probably just a spurious correlation. Think about how many stars there are out there and how many cave walls have been drawn on... I bet if you pick a cave wall somewhere on earth with a drawing on it, I can find you the galaxy that looks exactly like it. Same story as the buoys... too many caves and WAY too many galaxies...

I could go through most of the facts that you jumbled together in here and untangle them, but I don't have the time or desire. Suffice it to say that if we have a huge pile of facts (data) to pick from it's not difficult to pick two subsets that are trivially related.

I'm giving you 4 because the animation was good.
